
Introduction to the Course The FA Learning Introductory Module – Age Appropriate Coaching is a vocational course that provides candidates with an opportunity to develop an awareness of both the practical and theoretical aspects of coaching young players.
CPD for Level 1 CCF Coaches The course can provide a useful refresher option for those holding a current 1st4sport Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football qualification.
Course Prerequisites Candidates are required to: – be at least 16 years of age; – hold a valid 1st4sport Level 1 CCF which includes a current FA Emergency Aid Award and a current FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop certificate.
Course Aims To provide candidates who have an ongoing involvement in coaching young football players with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and confidence in coaching children.
Learning Outcomes On successful completion of the FAL Age Appropriate Coaching – Introductory Module candidates should be able to: – define movement skills incorporating Agility, Balance & Co-ordination and their relevance to the game; – explain and demonstrate how technique can be used to help players perform a skill; – demonstrate how to use appropriate games to grow players understanding of football and how we as coaches can manage difference in our groups; – show how to modify appropriate games to have an effect upon an individuals technical needs; – explain how we all learn differently and begin to include this knowledge within a coaching sessions; – gain an understanding of The FA Tesco Skills Programme; – signpost where you can go next on your coaching pathway.
Learning Programme The course will be delivered in a variety of models fulfilling the six hour programme requirement.
There is no formal assessment associated with the course, however candidates will be expected to consolidate the course information, prepare for the delivery of a coaching session and in the light of this review their knowledge and experience and develop an action plan for their further development in the role as a football coach.
