FA Mentoring Course

Introduction to the Course
The FA Mentoring Course is a vocational course that provides candidates with an opportunity to develop their role as a Mentor for new coaches and young leaders.

Course Prerequisites
Candidates are required to:
– be at least 16 years of age;
– hold a valid 1st4sport Level 1 CCF which includes a current FA Emergency Aid Award and a current FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop certificate.

Course Aims
To develop those who support new coaches and young leaders.

Learning Outcomes
The course content will include:
– developing self reflection with mentees;
– understanding the place of mentoring;
– appreciating the alternative models of mentoring;
– understanding the knowledge, skills and attributes of an effective mentor;
– using the mentoring tools to support mentees;
– developing the ability to build positive relationships;
– demonstrating interpersonal skills including questioning and giving feedback;
– action planning.
