Sixteen coaches completed the FA Youth Award Module 1 - Developing the Environment, held at Charter Standard Development Club Rozel Rovers FC, from the 23rd to 26th of July.
The aim of the course was to provide coaches who have an ongoing involvement in coaching young football players, with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and confidence in coaching children in the 5-11 year old age group - the four day course was delivered by FA Regional Coach Development Manager (5-11s), Richard Horner.
The 32 hour course has pre-requisites of a valid 1st4sport Level 1 CCF qualification or higher, which includes a current FA Emergency Aid award and a current FA Safeguarding Children in Football workshop certificate or be a qualified teacher with QTS, together with the completion of the FA Age Appropriate Coaching Introductory Module.
Coaches in attendance represented the following organisations: First Tower Utd, Grouville, Jersey Wanderers, St. Clement, St. Peter and St. Pauls Football Clubs, the Jersey FA Capita Centre of Excellence and Education Sport & Culture Community Development programme.
Attendees were: Jason A'Court, Jodie Botterill, Tom Blanchard, Tony Hoyland, Charlie Franks, Dave Kennedy, Lisa McLaughlin, Andrew Norman, Darren O'Connell, Brian Oliver, Colin Pack, Candice Parsons, Paul Renton, Kerry Sauvage, Dave Walsh and Andy West.

"The 5-11 year old age group is absolutely crucial to embedding basic skills, enhancing enjoyment of the game, developing healthy lifestyles and creating a new generation of talented players.
"Through the development of our coaching strategy with age appropriate courses, in-service training and the launch of the Jersey FA Coaches Association we are committed to supporting the needs of those coaches working with young players on the Island."
