Two FA Tesco Skills coaches from Middlesex FA supported an in-service training day for Education, Sport and Culture staff delivering Physical Education within Primary Schools.
FA Skills Coaches Kevin Green and Callum Martin travelled to Jersey in December to facilitate practical and theory workshops linked to the delivery of PE within the school curriculum.
ESC Community and School Sports Manager Dave Kennedy said "the day proved to be an invaluable in-service opportunity for our Primary PE and Community Team. The focus of our work being on how to cater for differentiation within groups and the effective use of the STEP principle within coaching sessions.
"The practices shown by the Skills coaches could be adapted for use by other sports and fit very well into our programme of delivery both during and after school.
"Through our partnership with the Jersey FA we are delighted to be able to benefit from the FA Skills coaches expertise and experience which will in turn impact on thousands of children within our primary schools"
Jersey FA Football Development Manager Brian Oliver said "FA Skills Coaches have been trained to focus on meeting children's learning and individual needs whatever their ability level - this means the Skills programme is truly child-centered and inclusive.
"School PE and sports programmes provide many opportunities for young children to experience a multi-sport environment before they choose their preference - for us hopefully it will be football.
"However, the choice of sport will to some extent depend on the impression the children have during their football activities.
Therefore, it is in everyones interest within football to make this participation as enjoyable and beneficial as possible.
"We are therefore delighted to be able to support ESCs Community and PE Team with the provision of football and look forward to working with them in the future."
