Jersey FA Capita PDC Guernsey trip

On Sunday 14th May 2017 the JFA Capita Girls PDC travelled to Guernsey for what is now becoming annual fixtures. This was a great opportunity for the girls to challenge themselves against a strong opposition and also start a friendly competitive rivalry against our sister island.

Guernsey U12 v Jersey U12

The U12 Jersey fixture was first of the day, against a very strong Guernsey U12 team. The pace of the Guernsey forward players caught out the Jersey defence on a number of occasions and it was Guernsey’s clinical finishing which gave them the 6-0 win. The Jersey players worked hard throughout and never gave up the fight. Goalkeeper, Libby Smith, stood out for the visitors and made some excellent saves. Roisin Flynn had an excellent game for Jersey and was a constant threat.

Guernsey U14 v Jersey U13

The second fixture was a mismatch in age group with the Jersey U13 playing the Guernsey U14. However both teams were equal in terms of passion, work rate and ability. Jersey battled hard throughout the game and came from behind on three occasions to level the score. An excellent free kick won the game for Guernsey in the last minutes of the game but Jersey were unlucky not to come away with a draw. Hannah Moody stood out for Jersey and was a constant threat with some excellent runs at goal. Jude Anquetil put in an excellent performance in defence and controlled the team from the back.

Guernsey U16 v Jersey U14

A very young Jersey U14 team had the last fixture of the day against a strong Guernsey U16 team, which included England International Maya Le Tissier. The Jersey team put in a fantastic performance and this was the stand out game of the day with both teams battling hard for the win. The Jersey team showed their experience of playing as a team in the boy’s league this season and worked hard together as a unit.

Jersey took the lead early on through Vanessa Ramos who worked tirelessly in attack. They went on to score two more goals through stand out player Leah Morris, who was a constant threat and worked hard both in defence and attack. However England star Le Tissier pulled Guernsey back in to the game with some quality finishing before Guernsey scored the winning goal in a late counter attack. Macey Wyse put in a brave defensive display and Georgia Dunlop made some outstanding saves in Goal.

The PDC coaches are extremely proud of how the players performed throughout the day and after a long season of hard work it is great to see it all pay off.

The Jersey FA would like to thank Capita for their continuous support as we create further football opportunities within the PDC and COE.
