16-year-old midfielders named most promising players

Jay Dos Santos and Aine Ruth, both 16-years-old, have been chosen as this year's winners of the Sid Guy Awards, presented to the most promising players in the Link Asset Services Centre of Excellence (boys) and Player Development Centre (girls).

Dos Santos, who scored in the recent U16 Muratti to help his side lift the Nigel Gavey Memorial Trophy, plays for St Clement and has been with the CoE since the age of 12.

Ruth, who picked up her award live on ITV Channel on Friday evening in a presentation at Haute Vallee, has been with the PDC since Year 7 and has followed the pathway through to the women's league.

The Rozel Rovers attacking midfielder has already been involved with the senior women's side this season.

"It feels really good, I'm really happy and really honoured," she told ITV Channel.
