Muratti 2019: Jersey set for Alderney Semi Final

Cassidy names strong 15-man squad for Alderney trip.

Jersey manager Martin Cassidy has named a strong 15-man squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Alderney for the Muratti semi final.

Cassidy’s side have won eight of their last nine fixtures and will be confident of another positive result as they go in search of four trophies over the next few months in a busy games programme for the senior men’s team.

"The players seem happy and we're looking forward to putting on a good performance on Saturday," he told JerseyFA.com.

"I've only been there once, two years ago, and it was a surprise with the weather but it's the same for both teams. I think the day will come that Alderney will surprise someone, so we need to make sure it's not us and it's not our players that give them that opportunity."

The winners will travel to Guernsey for the Muratti final on Saturday 18 May, 2019. Jersey currently hold the trophy after last year’s 1-0 win at Springfield, with Jack Cannon netting from the penalty spot.

"It's a positive mood, everyone's excited with what's going on," added Jersey defender Luke Campbell.

"We've got a good squad, everyone's keen and we've got some good young players. It's a Muratti semi final, we all want to play in the final against Guernsey and you can't be complacent with Alderney doing well in the Guernsey league."

Kick-off at Mount Hale (The Arsenal) in Alderney is at 12.30pm this Saturday, 23 March.
