"Developing Better Players"

CREATING A CULTURE ON AND OFF THE PITCH

The Jersey FA Performance Centre provides an advanced player pathway for youngsters in the island with identified talent and potential. Founded in 1986, the Centre has grown exponentially from one group of u14 boys, to now provide a pathway for players from u11s through to u21s - nine squads in total consisting of over 130 players.

The players are provided with weekly coaching sessions linked to a challenging games programme. Jersey FA Performance Centre Manager Paul Renton said: "Our aims and objectives are to provide a high quality coaching opportunity for identified players, to develop good habits, to challenge players through a structured work programme and to provide identified coaches with an opportunity to develop their coaching skills within age specific groups.

"Our values shape our behaviour and these include being proud to represent the island, to deliver high standards on and off the pitch, to be the best we can be and to work well together as a team.

"We have divided the Centre into four specific phases: Pre-Centre (u11s), Transition (u12s, u13s, u14s), Youth Development (u15s, u16s) and Development Squad (u17s, u18s, u21s) so that we can be more focused with our work programmes in order to best meet the needs of the players.

"We've developed a clear coaching and playing philosophy which is being cascaded through all the age groups. How our teams perform on and off the pitch is the strongest demonstration of our vision and objectives. The aim is for all our teams to demonstrate consistent behaviours and performances based on our playing and coaching philosophy."
