"Developing Better Players"

"Developing Better Players"

The Jersey FA Link Asset Services Centre of Excellence for boys provides an advanced player pathway for youngsters on the Island with identified talent and potential.

Founded in 1986, over the past 32 years the Centre has grown exponentially from one group of u14 boys, to a Centre of Excellence that provides a pathway for players from u11s through to u21s -  9 squads in total consisting of over 140 players. Through the Centre the players are provided with weekly coaching sessions linked to a challenging games programme for all age groups.

The Jersey FA Link Asset Services Centre of Excellence Paul Renton said; "Our aims and objectives are to provide a high quality coaching opportunity for identified players, to develop good habits, to challenge players through a structured work programme and to provide identified coaches with an opportunity to develop their coaching skills within age specific groups.

"Our values shape our behaviour and these include being proud to represent the Island, to deliver high standards on and off the pitch, to be the best we can be and to work well together as a team.

"We have divided the Centre into four specific phases: Pre-Centre (u11s), Transition (u12s, u13s, u14s), Youth Development (u15s, u16s) and Development Squad (u17, u18, u21) so that we an be more focused with our work programmes in order to best meet the needs of the players.

"In recent years we have developed a clear coaching and playing philosophy which is being cascaded through all the age groups.

"How our teams perform on and off the pitch is the strongest demonstration of our vision and objectives. The aim of for all our teams to demonstrate consistent behaviours and performances based on our playing and coaching philosophy.

"We look forward to building on all the good done on the Island by Primary and Secondary Schools, our affiliated Clubs and the Combination League to provide future generations of players to represent Jersey".

"Jersey FA DNA"

In recent years we have developed a clear coaching and playing philosophy Jersey FA DNA which is being cascaded through all the age groups.

In addition the Jersey FA DNA outlines how our teams perform on and off the pitch and is the strongest demonstration of our vision and objectives. The aim for all our teams is to demonstrate consistent behaviours and performances based on our playing and coaching philosophy.

Jersey FA DNA

Jersey FA coaching staff use a clear and consistent coaching methodology to develop future generations of Island players. All coaching sessions are designed around core principles which include delivery of game related practices that enable players to make their own decisions.

The Jersey FA system of play is based upon a 1-4-3-3 system with an emphasis on attacking play. We encourage our teams to play out from the back and through the thirds of the pitch aiming to dominate possession intelligently. We look to defend as early as possible taking into account the state of the game, the environment and the pre-determined game plan.

We provide support through a programme of weekly coaching sessions using the latest coaching methods within a positive learning environment. We also aim to provide all our squads of players with competitive games opportunities both on and off the Island.

An Island association established in 1905 the Jersey FA are passionate and proud Islanders with a rich history and tradition in local football.

Our aim is to develop future Island players with outstanding characteristics across a four corner player development model which includes, technical/tactical, psychological, physical and social attributes and skills.
