JFA Combination: Statement on latest plans for resumption of fixtures

An update from the Jersey Football Association on plans for its local league and cup competitions to resume.

Statement published on 3 January 2021

Outdoor gatherings are currently restricted in the island to a maximum of ten people. As things stand, this is due to revert to 40 people for controlled, organised sport from the middle of this coming week, however restrictions could of course be extended by Ministers between now and then.

If the easing does go ahead, the JFA feels it would be unfair to ask teams to go into fixtures on the weekend of 9-10 January with little or no training behind them, particularly after such a lengthy lay-off. As a result we are planning for local Combination league and cup competitions to resume on Saturday 16 January. This means JFA Combination matches scheduled between now and 15 January are, therefore, postponed.

We await the very latest guidelines and statistics from the Government of Jersey, and a subsequent announcement will be made by the Competitions Committee in the event of any changes to the planned schedule.
