The women's game in Jersey

Women of all abilities, from players just starting out in the game to those who have proudly represented the island, are welcomed with open arms by the three Jersey clubs with female adult (16+) sides.

Jersey Wanderers, Rozel Rovers and St Peter all have teams competing in the Jersey Women’s Division, the Zenith Cup, Women's Jersey FA Plate and the Women’s Jersey FA (Colin Welsh ) Cup.

Matches are usually on a Sunday morning, with the clubs also holding one or two training sessions each week. Whether it's just for fun, or if you take your football seriously, the local teams are all keen to hear from new players.

Before you can play for a local side in a match you will need to complete the Player Registration process.

The Jersey FA also has a Women's Representative Team which enters competitions such as the Island Games and competes in the annual Women's Muratti fixture against Guernsey.

FAQs: Women's football in Jersey

You must be aged 16 years or above to play for a senior women's football team in Jersey.

If you are aged 16+ there are four clubs in Jersey with women's teams. Grouville, JTC Jersey Wanderers, Rozel Rovers and St Peter.

All four teams complete on a weekly basis in the Jersey Women’s Division as part of the JFA Combination League. To get involved, get touch with the contacts listed above.

Jersey clubs will accept players of all abilities, from first time players, to more experienced players.

If you would like to participate in women's football or try out a training session, in the first instance contact the team you would like to play for.

Grouville: John Geary, 07797 896296 / jgeary@hotmail.co.uk, Michelle Lenaerts, 07378 447404 / michellelenaerts@hotmail.com

Contact the club you are considering joining, they will inform you when the next training session is. You can give a few training sessions a try to see if you enjoy it and the club will provide you with any further information that you may need to know.

When you are ready to sign for a club make sure you pay your Jersey FA registration fee. This is mandatory before playing in JFA Combination fixtures and ensures that you are insured should you get injured while playing for your club.

Fixtures are generally played on Sunday mornings around 10:30am, as well as very occasional midweek evening fixtures throughout the season.

Most clubs train once or twice a week, usually on evenings between Monday and Thursday.

If you are interested in coaching, refereeing or volunteering in Jersey football, please contact our Football Development Manager Brian Oliver on Brian.Oliver@jerseyfa.com or by calling the Jersey FA office on 01534 730433.
