Game for Change, Game for Life

Game for Change, Game for Life

Jersey FA is delighted to launch ‘Game for Change, Game for Life’; our new three-year strategy that outlines our plans to develop and govern football across the island between 2021 and 2024.

Our new strategy is released following comprehensive consultation with our football stakeholders throughout Jersey and aims to take the game forward in the island over the next three years, assisting us in achieving our vision: Uniting a football community to make Jersey a better place to live.

This vision is a reflection of the importance of the beautiful game in Jersey and how it connects our parishes and people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Football’s impact has never been clearer than in the past 18 months, when the game played a significant role in mobilising the island through the COVID-19 pandemic. For many, it was used as the platform to relaunch social and physical activity.

Our strategy provides clear direction for Jersey FA across the next three years and addresses the short, medium and long-term challenges ahead in both serving and leading the game for the thousands of people who participate each week.

This direction is highlighted through our four key goals:

  • Creating a positive environment that enhances the football experience
  • Delivering football for all
  • Sustaining and strengthening involvement in football
  • Developing a well-governed, efficient organisation that underpins a solid and sustainable future for football

The timing of the strategy’s launch is deliberate. As grassroots football enters a post-lockdown era, the strategy informs of the unique opportunities that exist in Jersey and how they can be used to create an island identity for football.

It also details how we’ll aim to engage with our 20 member clubs and support them in delivering a game that everyone can be proud of, whilst ensuring Jersey FA has the highest level of governance.

Game for Change, Game for Life

Bradley Vowden, President of Jersey FA, said: “I’m confident that we'll seize on the remarkable togetherness and resilience our sport has shown in the face of COVID-19 and use it to create a ‘better norm’ for the future.

“We recognise there's a huge amount to achieve, but we have set ourselves the challenge and look forward to delivering on this strategy which puts our members at the very heart of everything we do.”

David Kennedy, Jersey FA Chief Executive Officer, added: “This strategy aims to ensure that anyone in Jersey can participate in football, and that their experiences throughout their football journey are positive. As the governing body for football in Jersey, our primary role now is to assist and provide support across a range of disciplines and demonstrate strong strategic leadership during the period of this strategy.”
