Jersey youngsters enjoy Emeraude Cup success in France

Centre of Excellence players compete in the Emeraude Cup at FC Dinard, with the Under-11s winning their tournament.

Young footballers from Jersey FA's Centre of Excellence (CoE) enjoyed success in the Emeraude Cup in France over the weekend, with the Under-11s group going all the way to the final and wining their tournament.

All three teams topped their groups at the event at FC Dinard to make it through to the knock-out stages, with the Under-11s win all the more impressive as they bounced back from losing their opening fixture.

"The Emeraude Cup is a fantastic opportunity for the boys to experience competitive football at a high level off the island," said CoE Manager Paul Renton.

"All our teams were excellent representatives of the Jersey FA both on and off the pitch and it was a pleasure to watch them play. The u11 squad showed great character after losing their first game to go on and win the tournament. It is was great to see the quality of football they played with clear links to our team targets and our playing philosophy.

“Many thanks to all our coaching staff, our sponsors Link Asset Services, the parents of the players and to Jersey Sport for their support - we look forward to attending the event next year”.
