Shaking hands is no longer mandatory ahead of JFA Combination League matches in light of Coronavirus.

Coronavirus – Pre-match Handshake Guidance

11.03.2020

The FA, and therefore the Jersey FA, is following Government guidance which at the time of writing, does not offer any specific advice to say that players should not be shaking hands, but highlights and emphasises the need for good hand hygiene at all times.

However, if JFA Combination League teams feel happier not to shake hands ahead of kick off (or to try an alternative method like fist bumping) then that is absolutely their choice and the League is understanding of teams making this choice.

Should teams decide not to shake hands or opt for an alternative method, this must be conveyed to the match referee before the teams enter the field of play.

Ahead of all matches, the teams should still line up either side of the official(s) and walk past each other, even if the handshake does not take place.
