Jersey FA to Host Girls Only Come & Play Football Festival

A great opportunity for girls in school years 1-6 to come together and play football.

Jersey FA is delighted announce that it will be hosting a Girls Only Come & Play Football Festival at Springfield Stadium 3G on Sunday 24 October.

The FREE event is based around fun and enjoyment and will provide a brilliant opportunity for girls in school years 1-6 to participate in female football fixtures.

Upon arrival at 10.15am, girls will be split into their school years and put into teams – ensuring that they’re with their friends, of course. The first kick-off will be at 10.30am, with the festival coming to a close at 12.00noon.

Lucy Even, Jersey FA Community Coach (Girls), said: “Through our new Jersey FA strategy ‘Game For Change, Game For Life’, we have identified the need to provide more opportunities, both recreationally and competitively, for girls and women who want to take part in football.

“Overall we have an ambitious target of increasing female participation by 30% over the next 3 years, and our fun festivals provide a positive environment for younger girls who may be having their first experience in the game.

“Having delivered our last festival in July we were overwhelmed by the take up, and we expect this one to be very similar.”

The festival is open to girls of all abilities, so newcomers to the game are as welcome as those with more experience.

Girls should wear comfortable sports clothing and football boots if they have them. If football boots aren’t available, trainers will be fine.
