HeartForLife to co-sponsor Jersey FA Referee Development Programme

We have signed a two-year agreement with HeartForLife to support our Referee Development Programme.

Jersey FA is delighted to announce HeartforLife as co-sponsors of the Jersey FA Referee Development Programme for the next two years.

The partnership will ensure sustained investment into our referee workforce (which includes match day coaches and mentors) supporting delivery of the FA grassroots referee progression pathway.

David Kennedy, Chief Executive Officer of the Jersey Football Association said: “We’re delighted to be entering into this two-year agreement with HeartforLife to support our Referee Development Programme. This season our referee coverage of the adult game (men/women) is 100% with coverage of the junior game (boys/girls) around 40%. With the support from HeartforLife we intend to continue to build on the good work of recent years with the long term aim of every game of football being officiated by an FA qualified referee.

Jimmy Kelly, Chair of the Jersey Football Association said: “Heart for Life do amazing work to help diagnose unidentified heart disease and cardiac conditions. As an organisation, we are pleased to be able to partner with Heart for Life to support our Jersey FA Referee Development Programme. The partnership will provide valuable funding to help develop the next generation of referees on the island.”

Dr. Andrew Mitchell from Heart for Life said: “Dangerous heart conditions often go undetected until they present with sudden cardiac arrest, often during sporting events like football. Screening can help detect these conditions and help save lives. Heart for Life offers state-of-the-art, high quality testing for inherited heart conditions in Jersey. Alongside getting their heart checked, people can also learn how to perform CPR and work an AED to help protect other players and supporters. For more information visit heartforlife.co.uk"
