Referee Associations & Committees
There are two key groups promoting, developing and supporting football referees in Jersey:
The Jersey FA Referees' Committee (JFARC)
JFARC is a committee of the Jersey Football Association, and deals with all referee matters in the island such as:
- Observing
- Promotions
- Appointments
- Education and Development
It is responsible for this for ALL local referees. The chairman of this committee is Gareth Bayley, with Andy Norman as secretary.
Mark Le Cornu is the Appointments Officer. The JFA's Referee Development Officer is Paul Kemp.
The Jersey Football Referees' Association (JFRA)
The Jersey Football Referees' Association is the local branch of the nationwide Referees' Association (RA). It exists to support and encourage the development of its members, and protect them from any injustice or unfair treatment (in matters relating to refereeing).
The JFRA looks after the welfare of its membership and holds monthly meetings, at Springfield Stadium, which include discussions about match incidents, both locally involving Jersey referees and nationally as seen on TV. It also organises social functions for its membership.
Through its affiliation with the Referees' Association, it has access to a qualified welfare and legal team to support referees through issues they may encounter on and off the pitch. The RA has partnered up with a whole host of different well-respected brands to offer members benefits on a range of products and services.
The JFRA President is Paul Daniel. Further details, including information about joining, can be obtained from secretary Luke Nerac via luke.nerac@hotmail.co.uk
You can follow the JFRA on Twitter @JerseyRefs
