Referees
In Jersey, as of the 2019-20 season, there are 28 registered referees, ranging from those just setting out in the game to individuals who have progressed to officiating in Muratti matches, the Jacksons Premiership, Island Games and Combined Counties fixtures.
As part of the Jersey FA Business Plan 2018-21, a target to have 41 registered referees has been set in order to provide 100% coverage of all games in the island.
To reach that target, the Jersey FA has focussed on a number of areas including:
- Appointing a Referee Development Officer (Paul Kemp)
- Promotion of referee courses
- Creation of the Jersey FA Referee Development Centre
- Improving player discipline
Referees play an integral role in ensuring all participants enjoy their match day experience, helping create a competitive, fair, safe and enjoyable playing environment. The Jersey FA Referees' Committee provides support throughout a referee's career, from organising courses, approving promotions and providing support through the mentoring, assessment and feedback process.
